A suspected serial rapist was arrested in Montego Bay
According to Jamaica Constabulary Force, on Wednesday, January 26 a police team responded to sounds of a woman screaming in the Fairview area of Montego Bay. After investigating the matter, the suspected rapist was apprehended.
The Jamaica Gleaner reported that the alleged rapist is identified as 24-year-old Odane Jackson of Norwood, St. James.
Jackson has been charged with several offences including:
- Two counts of rape
- Two counts of robbery
- Aggravation and buggery
- Assault at common law
- Assaulting a female
The police say the charges are in relation to three separate cases.
The report stated that after being arrested for the alleged crime, Jackson was later put on an identification parade and charged after being pointed out.
Jackson is said to be a suspect in other cases of rape committed in and around the Montego Bay area. The investigation continues, as he remains a suspect in these cases.
The Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse is now probing at least eight cases in which he may be involved. These cases occurred around the Union Street, Barnett Street and Fairview areas of the parish.
A court date for the suspect is being arranged and the Investigation continues by the Montego Bay police department.
