Hanover residents disarm gunman and handed firearm to the police
According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), three men are currently on the run after one of them, armed with a firearm, was disarmed by residents in Lucea, Hanover on Saturday, July 6.
Reports indicate that around 10:00 a.m., the three men, one of whom was brandishing a gun, approached another man with whom they had a dispute. The confrontation quickly drew the attention of local residents who decided to intervene in the altercation. Demonstrating courage and determination, the residents managed to subdue the armed individual and successfully disarmed him. Once the firearm was confiscated, the situation took a different turn as all three assailants decided to flee the scene, disappearing before law enforcement could arrive.
The police were called and the firearm, a Glock 19 pistol, was handed over to them. The police are currently searching for the suspects and investigations are ongoing.
The incident has raised concerns among the community about the level of violence and the presence of illegal firearms in the area. The authorities are now urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of the three men to come forward and assist in the investigation.
