Issa Trust Foundation “For The Children” Charity Gala set to raise money for a Pediatric Center in Jamaica

The Issa Trust Foundation is set to host its second gala in New York to benefit the Mary Issa Pediatric and Adolescent Health Center near Ocho Rios. This follows the successful “For The Children” Charity Gala which helped the foundation raise an impressive US$417,000, surpassing its initial target of US$200,000.

Issa Trust Foundation, established in 2005 by Couples Resorts, is a nonprofit aimed at promoting health and wellness among children in Jamaica. It’s driven by initiatives such as community health improvement, prevention strategies, and educational programs.

In 2022, the Trust marked another milestone while hosting its first event outside of Jamaica; the “For The Children” Charity Gala in New York City. The team is continuously aiming to secure life-saving resources for Jamaican children.

On Saturday May 11th, 2024, the Issa Trust Foundation is set to host it’s second charity
gala titled, “For The Children”, in New York City. According to the Issa Trust website, the proceeds from this event will support the ongoing operational expenses of the Mary Issa Pediatric and Adolescent Health Center near Ocho Rios. The center aims to provide not only pediatric but also adolescent services, specialty clinics, mental health support, vision and hearing tests, and primary care. Additionally, the center will facilitate rotation programs for doctors to collaborate with local Jamaican doctors.

The Foundation organisers believes this event is the ideal occasion to honor Jamaican mothers.

Sean Edwards, representing the Issa Trust Foundation says, “We as
Jamaicans are very passionate about our mothers and the struggles they
encounter at times, and this event is a perfect opportunity to honor our
mothers in the diaspora by taking them to this gala”.

In health, the Trust showed immense support towards mothers. As schools closed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, many students were unable to continue their studies due to the unavailability of tech resources. The Foundation played a crucial role in mitigating this challenge.
