Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls delivered an electrifying performance in the ultimate showdown, triumphing over England with a thrilling score of 61-53 in a nail-biting finale of the Horizon Netball Series held at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Jamaica on Tuesday.

This victory not only clinched the series 2-1 but also bestowed upon the Sunshine Girls the illustrious Rhone Hornsby Trophy, adding another remarkable chapter to their legendary legacy.

The match started unfavorably for the Jamaicans, who found themselves trailing 4-1 after an early miss by shooter Romelda Aiken-George. However, a brilliant display of courage ensued, with both teams engaged in an exhilarating battle. England ended the first quarter with a 14-11 lead.

Midway through the second quarter, the Sunshine Girls, led by a relentless defensive effort from Shamera Sterling-Humphrey, turned the game around to establish a two-goal lead by halftime at 28-26.

As the third quarter began, Jamaica initially expanded their lead to four goals. However, unforced errors allowed England to narrow the gap, ending the quarter at 42-39.

In the final quarter, the Jamaicans maintained their composure, scoring quickly and forcing turnovers to stretch their lead to six goals at 46-40. They never looked back, ultimately securing a 61-53 victory and thrilling their home crowd.
