Rodney Basil Price OD, known as Bounty Killer, alongside The Bounty Foundation and Shaggy, have shown incredible generosity and compassion by donating USD 10,000 to support Cleve Laing better known as Lieutenant Stitchie. Cleve is bravely battling the challenging aftermath of a brain hemorrhage that has left him unresponsive. Their heartfelt contribution is a beacon of hope during this difficult time.

In a post on social media Bounty wrote, In a heartfelt act of generosity, The Bounty Foundation and Shaggy made a significant donation of USD 10,000 to Cleve Laing, better known as Lieutenant Stitchie, with his wife, Mrs. Laing, collecting the cheque on his behalf. The presentation took place on October 3, 2024, at PAJ Imports Limited, located on Constant Spring Road in Kingston.

Rodney Price, famously known as Bounty Killer, alongside his manager Paul “Bankey” Giscombe, personally handed over the cheque. This contribution exemplifies The Bounty Foundation’s unwavering commitment to giving back and making a meaningful impact within the community.

United we stand and divided we fall, Bounty expressed with heartfelt sincerity. He continued to share his thoughts, encouraging everyone to embrace their blessings, whether they lift us up or bring us down, as each of us can teach and support another in a meaningful way. I am filled with immense gratitude for my brother @direalshaggy, who stepped up without a moment’s hesitation, and to my manager @bankey_lous, @pajimportsjamaica, and the entire team at @bounty_foundation. My appreciation extends to all the media personalities @onstagetv, @suncity104_9fm, @iriefm_ja_, @cvm_television, @thejamaicastar, @jamaicagleaner, and @thefixja.

Bounty Killa, appearing in a heartfelt video with Richie Stephens, urged the music community to unite and offer mutual support during challenging times. He shared how Stitchie devoted his life to the Lord, prioritizing his spiritual journey over financial stability. Despite his unwavering faith, Stitchie has been battling illness for an extended period, which has severely impacted his financial resources.

Stitchie, a renowned figure in Jamaica’s dancehall and gospel scene, has experienced a severe brain hemorrhage and is currently unresponsive. His wife, Sophia Laing, has set up a GoFundMe page with a goal of raising US$100,000. This will help the family secure a spot for the “Wear Yuh Size” artist in a long-term care facility, essential for his recovery journey.

The fundraiser, which started just two days ago, has gathered US$1,420 so far.

“Your donation will bring hope to Lt. Stitchie and his family during these trying times. We deeply appreciate your generosity and prayers, which mean everything to us. Your support will help cover the costs associated with his transfer, medical care, and living expenses in the long-term care home,” expressed Laing with gratitude.

Sophia encourages everyone, saying, “Every donation, regardless of size, will make a difference and bring hope to Cleve and his family as they navigate this difficult journey.”

Known also as The Governor, Stitchie’s health issues have been apparent since at least 2023. Last October, he needed assistance onto the stage and seemed disoriented, causing concern about his health.

Stitchie has been a vibrant part of both the dancehall and gospel arenas for over 40 years. He recorded his first song in 1983, with his major breakthrough in 1987 through the “Wear Yuh Size” album for King Jammy. This hit single topped local charts and marked a significant milestone in his career. Beyond dancehall, Stitchie recorded three albums for Atlantic Records and collaborated with producer Patrick Roberts on the Shocking Vibes label before transitioning fully to gospel music.

Sophia warmly encourages those contributing to the campaign to share the initiative with others.

“Your generosity and prayers mean the world to us, and we are deeply grateful for your support,” she shared.
