The Duke and Duchess of Sussex to visit Nigeria
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will embark on a visit to Nigeria.
According to the The Standard, Prince Harry will attend a ceremony marking the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games at London’s St Paul’s Cathedral on Wednesday May 8, though it is not known if Meghan will join him. The couple will then head to Nigeria after being invited by the West African country’s chief of defence staff, who met Harry in Germany last September at Invictus Games Dusseldorf.
Local newspapers reported that Defence Headquarters was “honoured” and “delighted” after Harry and Meghan, who is of Nigerian descent, had accepted the invitation. There are no report if the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will meet the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu but they are expected to meet other dignitaries.
Prince Harry and Meghan are no strangers to African nations. Their love for Africa dates back to their engagement trip to Botswana. Harry openly confessed his love for Africa and have spent much of his younger years on the Continent. Harry recently hosted a Charity Polo Match for his Charity Sentebale, with Sentebale winning both matches, Harry received the trophy for winning the mini-tournament, part of a fundraising weekend that raised $1 million for Sentebale, organizers said.
